Steve Nichols has been in the Insurance industry for 39 years. He began his career in 1986, selling individual Disability policies to businesses. After almost 2 years, Steve went to work for Prudential Insurance. He spent 7 years working for Prudential as a Life Insurance and Financial Planning Agent in the San Bernadino and Riverside areas. While at Prudential he obtained his Property and Casualty License as well as his Variables and Series 6 Licenses. He also earned his LUTCF designation.
After leaving Prudential, Steve went to work for RothCo Insurance Agency in Orange County, whose primary focus was Commercial Business Insurance, including Commercial Property, Liability, Auto, and Workers Comp. RothCo was sold 2 years later so Steve joined KIPS Insurance Agency in Moreno Valley, which focused on Non-Standard Auto Insurance. While there he sold hundreds of policies and was promoted to Manager. Motivated by his success, Steve opened his own agency in Moreno Valley, Steve Nichols Insurance Services in 1998.
After 4 years, Steve opened another office in San Bernardino. This led to offices opening in Yucaipa and Banning, growing to 5 offices. Both of Steve’s sons came to work at the Agency and helped run the various offices. As a result of changes in the industry, the economy, and the challenges of hiring quality personnel, in 2007, he downsized to 2 locations, one in San Bernardino and the original in Moreno Valley. During this same period, Steve purchased 2 Agencies books of business.
In late 2009 Steve was approached by the owner of Jay Pogue Insurance to buy his Agency. Jay Pogue Insurance Agency Inc. was a well-known Agency in the Riverside community dating back to 1973. The name recognition in the Riverside area was significant. Steve agreed to run the agency for two years until funding could be obtained. Steve’s son, Jared, ran Steve Nichols Insurance Services.
Steve purchased Jay Pogue Insurance Agency Inc. in 2012. He also formed Are You Covered Inc., incorporating the Steve Nichols Insurance Services books of business. Both corporations are family owned.
